Frequently Asked Questions

What should I wear to a yoga class?

Wear comfortable, breathable clothing that allows for ease of movement.  If wearning socks, grippy ones are best.

Are there any age restrictions for classes?

Our classes are open to individuals over the age of 14.  There is no age limit on practicing yoga and many people who do practice yoga continue to do so into their 80s.

Can I join a class if I have injuries or health conditions?

Please inform your instructor of any injuries or health concerns so they can provide appropriate modifications.  It is always important to honour our bodies, especially if we are not feeling 100%.

Which class is best for me?

The chair based yoga is a class that offers yogis the opportunity to sit as well as stand.  This class takes out the element of transitioning between mat and standing.  It is designed to allow for anyone whose balance is problematic, might have arthritis or osteoporosis/ osteoarthritis or had knee or hip replacement of suffers knee of hip pain.  It is a very popular class and great fun.

Mat yoga includes transitioning from floor to standing incorporating both beginner and intermediate poses.  Some advanced poses are woven into the class depending on clients.

What equipment do I need?

Bricks, blocks, blankets, resistance bands and bolsters are provided. Bring your own mat, but one can be borrowed until you get one of your own.

What type of mat should I buy?

This is quite personal, but as a general rule, a yoga mat with some density so when balancing the ankles don't wobble.  A yoga mat tends to be thinner but denser than a pilates mat.  If not sure, please ask at your first class and borrow a mat.

"I can thoroughly recommend Lizzie’s restorative yoga sessions to anyone. To be invited to relax as the class begins was new to me, but a couple of weeks in, I could see/feel how beneficial it was. The hour passes the most quickly of my week and both mind and body feel very much better as I leave. I’m hooked"
